There's nothing like cozying up in your pj's and slippers and settling down to a warm holiday breakfast full of freshly squeezed orange juice, hot-from-the-oven perfectly crisp bacon, soft scrambled eggs that are loaded with cheddar, and a tall stack of warm pancakes slathered with butter and drenched in maple syrup.

One of my favorite parts of Christmas when I was younger was always the breakfast my mom made. She didn't make a hot breakfast often—we were much more of a dry cereal family—so a hot breakfast like this was a big deal to me.

And bacon to this day still reminds me of Christmas morning! Then I'm reminded of how many oranges it took me and my siblings to squeeze by hand with one of those twist-to-juice thingamajigs (manual juicers) to get enough juice for my mom and all 6 kids.

Good times though. Christmas morning is hands down my favorite morning of the year, so a seriously incredible breakfast is a must!

Eggnog French Toast https://www.cookingclassy.com/eggnog-french-toast/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/eggnog-french-toast/#comments Mon, 10 Nov 2014 23:31:01 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/?p=15554 Eggnog French Toast is the Christmas morning breakfast of your dreams! But don't worry—I won't tell anyone if you make this the first day that you find eggnog in the stores. Classic French toast is given a holiday twist with an eggnog batter that tastes like holiday magic.

Some of you may be thinking it's a little early to be getting out the eggnog but I think November safely qualifies for serving up eggnog. Next, you know I'll be making these Eggnog Snickerdoodles.

This Eggnog French Toast makes for the perfect holiday breakfast, Thanksgiving or Christmas. Not only does it taste truly delicious but, just like other French toast recipes, it is unbelievably easy to make. It only requires 5 ingredients! Those are my kind of breakfasts because I'm not a morning person, so when I have guests to feed I'm all about easy breakfast recipes. I'd like to start sharing more overnight recipes, I'm sure there is some way this could be turned into an overnight French toast casserole.

Really it's not best with pomegranate arils (kind of an odd flavor combo to do pomegranate and eggnog) I only added them to make it look more festive and fancier, sparkling cranberries would be good for decoration too.

Eggnog French Toast Recipe

  1. Stir together store-bought eggnog (homemade eggnog would be amazing), egg mixture, nutmeg, and ground cinnamon in a large bowl.
  2. Butter a griddle or skillet and turn to medium heat.
  3. Pour the eggnog mixture into a shallow dish or pan. Dip thick slices of a loaf of your favorite brioche bread into the mixture, making sure to saturate each side of the slice of bread.

I'm sure I will be turning to this French toast recipe many times this season. It tastes just like eggnog but in perfectly golden and buttery French toast form. Serve this up with sweetened whipped cream (a holiday must right?), some protein like juicy sausage, and those irresistible slices of salty, crisp bacon we all crave, and you've got a holiday meal worth remembering.

Eggnog Doughnut Muffins https://www.cookingclassy.com/eggnog-doughnut-muffins/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/eggnog-doughnut-muffins/#comments Mon, 16 Dec 2013 21:38:54 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/?p=10241 Eggnog Doughnut Muffins can be breakfast, dessert, after-school snack, Christmas brunch, or for any time you really need festive eggnog flavor. Soft and spiced muffins are infused with the creamy taste of eggnog, and then covered with a sweet doughnut-inspired glaze with even more eggnog! These would be the perfect Christmas morning muffins—or a holiday party dessert.

Christmas breakfast here we come! Lucky for me, since I just made these, I got this Christmas-style breakfast a week early. Yesterday I took my latest favorite holiday cookie, these Melt-In-Your-Mouth Eggnog Cookies, to my in-law's family Christmas party.

Yes, I wanted to devour all 30-whatever of those cookies, but somehow I managed to get them to the party :). Since I woke up this morning and my cookies were gone, but I still had half of a carton of eggnog, I decided to make another holiday-inspired treat with a new recipe. All you need to jump from cookies to muffins are paper liners and a 12-cup muffin pan.

My kids and I call these "Santa Drink Muffins" because we all know eggnog is the preferred drink for Santa Claus.

I'm pretty sure eggnog is available all year where I live, but I try to resist buying it until the holidays because it makes it that much more savored and enjoyed.

Eggnog Cheesecake Cupcakes https://www.cookingclassy.com/eggnog-cheesecake-cupcakes/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/eggnog-cheesecake-cupcakes/#comments Sun, 08 Dec 2013 13:58:56 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/?p=10018 Eggnog Cheesecake Cupcakes are the tastiest way to enjoy an eggnog dessert during the holiday season. Starting with a Biscoff cookie crumb crust, a creamy eggnog cheesecake is layered and baked, then topped with fluffy whipped cream and a dash of spice. Make these for your Christmas parties and everyone will applaud!

Is there a better way to start out the day than with Cheesecake? No, probably not. Seeing as it was Thanksgiving these are what I ate for breakfast. It's a good thing Thanksgiving only comes once a year so I'm not tempted to eat cheesecake for breakfast too often.

It was basically like drinking eggnog for breakfast anyway (which still isn't what we'd consider healthy but it's also another delicious breakfast choice, especially when it's a holiday - or near a holiday).

Easiest Eggnog Ice Cream https://www.cookingclassy.com/easiest-eggnog-ice-cream/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/easiest-eggnog-ice-cream/#comments Mon, 19 Dec 2011 17:23:00 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/2011/12/easiest-eggnog-ice-cream/ It doesn't get any easier than this!  This recipe contains a whopping 2 ingredients.  Can you guess =)?  Eggnog and sugar.  One day I was sitting their wanting ice cream, and since it's eggnog season I thought eggnog ice cream sounded good.  So, I was trying to decide what ingredients I would make it with.  Often when I am trying to mimic the flavors of something I look at the ingredients listed on the package of whatever I'm trying to mimic.

Eggnog ingredients are very similar to ice cream ingredients.  You've got your cream, milk, sugar and egg yolks.  Which led me to, why not just use eggnog, rather than using a whole list of ingredients, making a custard and allowing it time to cool before processing.

This is probably the easiest thing I have ever made, next to toast.  I love the simplicity of this recipe.  And it tastes exactly like eggnog, imagine that =).  I thought the eggnog did need a bit more sugar but if you don't like your ice cream as sweet as I do only add as much as you'd like.

Easiest Eggnog Ice Cream

The easiest eggnog ice cream! Deliciously flavorful and perfect for the holidays.

  • 1 quart eggnog
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  1. In a mixing bowl whisk together eggnog and sugar until sugar has dissolved. Pour mixture into an ice cream maker and process according to manufacturers directions. Transfer ice cream to an airtight container and freeze until firm (or enjoy as shake, no continued freezing necessary).
